ATC365 #72 STAR

OK, no prizes for guessing what the word is today!

 Mr Generator gave me STAR tonight. 

Yes tonight! I have been busy all day doing stuff!

Here we are then, my STAR for today.

The piece of card was coloured originally with Dylusions Sprays. 

I stamped some small stars and then added the lines in between them. 

The big star was stamped and embossed in black.

Bit of white doodling on the background stars.

Back again tomorrow.

Marvellous Monday with Visible Image

Yabba-dabba-dooo! Marvellous Monday is here! My post for you today showcases one of the amazing NEW stamp sets from Visible Image. They have launched a shed-load of new designs and this is just one of them! Take a look HERE to see just how many awesome stamps they have created. This link to the blog shows some of the most amazing DT samples EVER! I will wait for you to get back...............

This note book uses Dylusions and white embossing powder. I like the white against this very intense purple.

And in contrast this card uses purple embossing powder on a pale marbled background created using Brusho paints. The border is using white embossing powder again this time on some simple purple card. 

These new stamps really speak for themselves don't they? Awesome is a good word but still somehow not good enough I feel.

ATC365 #28 CELL

Another great word from The Generator! Today I got to use a really funky stamp for my ATC.

The background is a scrap of card coloured with Dylusions spray ink. I had made a piece of art for a friend and this was a trimming. The stamp is 'probably' one of those free ones from Craft Stamper magazine as it is the right size for this. I will look into it and check this info. I used bleach to remove colour and then added hints of turquoise and yellow. This ATC is a prime example of stamping 'off the page'. I think it actually shows the stamp off more than if it had been stamped bang in the middle.

Right, I have VERY important DT work to do today which I cannot tell you anything about! Ssssshhhh! Top secret!

ATC365 - Day #7 - SORRY

No, I am not saying 'Sorry' to you, but that was the word that the random word generator gave me. I very nearly hit the button again but I stuck to my guns and headed off to the craft room.

#007/365 - SORRY

On my way there I was pondering my collection of sentiments and phrases as I was pretty sure that it was going to be a quote ATC. Of course there are the sympathy stamps but I didn't fancy using one of those. I know lots of crafters find it hard to use sympathy stamps other than when the need arises. Anyway, I came across this sentiment which I felt fitted the brief well enough! I will try not to be too

tenuous but sometimes you have to think outside of the box right?

I started with a remnant of paper which I had coloured with Dylusions inks and stamped with bleach using one of the incredibly versatile Visible Image stamps featuring hand writing. They have 2, one is the Bronte Script and the other is from the Revolution set. I am pretty sure this one is the latter. The flower is a free stamp from Craft Stamper magazine, perhaps a couple of years old now but still very 'now' in design. All stamped with black embossing powder. I also used water to draw some of the ink out from the paper in the flower to make it stand out more.

OK, so a whole week done now, it is still exciting me and I see no reason to give up!

ATC365 - #004 - FEAR

Oh my! That was hard! Took me ages to find a suitable image for this theme! However, this sentiment stamp came to the rescue. It is by Andy Skinner. I was making a note book today for a gift with this lovely orange card and the dragon fly stamp set was already out on my desk. I think these stamps were a free gift with one of the myriad of magazines I subscribe to. I will publish a shot of the  finished notebook once it has been gifted, wouldn't want to spoil their surprise!

So here we are, the fourth ATC in my 365 day challenge. Hope you like it. I am really pleased with the result, but then I do love black and orange as a combo.

#004 - FEAR

The background is Dylusions and a sunburst stencil. The wings of the dragonfly have been bleached out and the image and sentiment are embossed in black.

Keep on keeping on! 4 down, 361 to go!

ATC365 - Day 2

Well, so far so good! Managed to get my second ATC done as well as taking a long walk on the beach and doing the 'big' shop! It is a beautiful sunny day here if a little cold. Here is the proof of the walk on the beach. You will just have to believe me when I say that I went shopping!

The word that the random word generator (HERE) gave me today was THISTLE and here is my ATC. OK, for those of you that know the difference, this is in fact a teasel. I have just been to the Woodware web site to double check it was one of their stamps so I could mention them in this post and was shocked to see my mistake! Oh well, it is still a prickly beast and that is enough for me!

#002 - THISTLE

I used a scrap piece of water colour card which I had coloured with Dylusions. The image is black embossing powder and the highlighting is done with bleach. The word is on a piece of thick tracing paper and attached using black staples.

Marvellous Monday with Visible Image

Yes, I know it has been a few weeks since I was last here. Without going into too much detail I needed to rest, Doctors orders, so I did as I was told! Fingers crossed that each new day is a good one for me.

Right, so, where were we? I suppose for my blog followers I should bring you up to date with Visible Image makes that I should have blogged about during my absence!

Just in case you didn't know it, Visible Image released a new set of stamps recently, under the title EXPRESS YOURSELF. These are some of the most amazing 'wordy' stamps out there at the moment! I had such a blast working with them. You know how much I love making backgrounds and these stamps gave me the chance to use some of my favourite pieces of coloured paper to show the stamp off.

Blowing Dylusions Inks

Life is a Journey. I simply placed a drop of Dylusion ink onto the edge of a piece of smooth white card and blew the ink forward with my trusty Tim Holtz puffer. Of course a straw and your own puff would work just as well. I added some further interest by stamping with the polka dots and the ink splats stamps. That bit in the top left corner makes me think of kiwi fruit and the pink band reminds me of dragon fruit!

More Dylusions Inks

Listen to your Heart. This time I used a piece of water colour card which I misted with water before spraying on some vivid Dylusions inks. The heart from the Tin Man set was stamped, cut out and mounted on 3D gel. A simple hand drawn line and dots around the card tie it all together.

Brusho Powder Paints

Life is What you Make It.  Water colour card again, spritzed with water and then painted with some of the deeper Brusho colours. I loved this piece of card so much that I wanted to use every piece of it hence the triple layering and paper ribbon to use up the last scrap! It makes a change to use white embossing powder and I think this is what made the whole thing work so well, the colours really 'pop'.

Dylusions Inks 

Karma.  Such a simple card but pretty effective don't you think? This was an off-cut from something bigger and the hoarder in me kept the piece of card and I am glad I did! Stamping the image over the lightest area really worked. 

Tim Holtz Distress sprays

This is Me. I have a very limited collection of Tim Holtz sprays, mainly in red and pink, and this off-cut was the perfect size for the INKognito gerbera. It was inspired by the card I made for the launch of the INKognito stamps with the off-the-page stamping. I used black embossing powder for all the stamping to give a really intense black image which contrasts well with the reds. Using a white marker I then added some hi-lights. 

Spotty-dotty!

Just be Happy. A simple background made using a toothbrush and Brusho paints. I like to work with my Brushos 'wet'. i.e. ready mixed. I use about a 1/4 of a teaspoon of the powder to make a small amount of paint at a time. To be honest I don't really get on with this sprinkling lark! Anyway, I did the classic splattering using the toothbrush dipped in the paint. Once it was dry I sprayed the Grunge Polka Dot stamp with water and just stamped onto the dry splatters. This caused the paint to become wet again and give these subtle spots. I then used black embossing powder to stamp the dotty part from the INKognito Man stamp for the area under the banner.

Create your Imagination. When this was published by Helen in the Visible Image group I had a few people ask me how I did the background. Hmmm, I had to try and remember!! Well, I have remembered now but I am going to hold off telling you about it as I plan to do a How2 for it in the new year.

The Friday Feature with Visible Image

I have news! Today is my last Friday Feature. Oh, but don't look glum. I am now in charge of Marvellous Monday so I will be back in a couple of days with another blog post!! 

MARVELLOUS - I ran this through my spell-checker and it seems there are 2 ways to spell it. Well, technically there are lots of ways to spell it if you count all the wrong ways! I am going with the double L version - MARVELLOUS.

For my last Friday Feature I've got a card to show you made using the heart from the Tin Man set which is one of the latest characters from Visible Image.

When Mark was designing the Wizard of Oz stamps I had it in my head that there would be something steam punk, something clockwork, something industrial to compliment Tin Man himself. And I wasn't wrong was I? Just look at the detail on the heart, those cogs, the rivets on the 'metal' plates. I really love this stamp.

I first made my background. I used Dylusions Ink Sprays in Tangerine Dream, Pomegranate seed and Fresh Lime. On top of that I stamped the cogs from the Time after Time set. I used Peeled Paint distress ink for this. It gave a very subtle hint of a pattern which is what I wanted.

I used a hematite black heat embossing powder for the hearts, sentiment and wings, which are also from the Time after Time set. I used the same coloured card for these pieces. Remember I always make more background card for just this reason! 

To make the pieces all gel, I added some little dots at the corners of the card and the sentiment with my embossing ink pen and heat embossed with the hematite powder to echo the rivets on the hearts.

The Friday Feature with VISIBLE IMAGE

Whoop whoop! Another Friday is upon us and thus another Friday Feature is here for you!

The guys at Visible Image have just come back from a very scorchio holiday, they had a great time but are back now in the thick of it with a show to go to this weekend. Boy they never seem to rest those two! I bet they were talking 'shop' even while they were away!

Which show you ask? The Great British Craft Festival – Stoneleigh Park, near Coventry, is my answer. Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th August. They are on stand D3. If you can, pop over and say 'Hi' to Helen and Mark. They will be the ones with the gorgeous suntans!

If you are lucky enough to be going then you will see some amazing samples the DT made using the latest stamp release, INKognito. They are fan-tab-u-lous, and I am not just saying that 'cos I am on the team! These stamps are really beautiful and lend themselves to a variety of styles, but are particularly good for those of you that like journalling.

Right, my project for today features the heart and the Live Life Now sentiment.

I used a new-to-me product, Dylusions ink sprays (only got mine 2 weeks ago, I know lots of you have been using them for ages!) for the background and gilding flakes for the stamped images. Word of warning, be very careful not to let the gilding glue dry on the stamps. This goes for ANY stamps, Visible Image stamps are pretty robust, but the gilding glue is not designed for use on stamps really and it does dry pretty quickly. It would mess up your rubber stamps too if left on there. But don't be frightened of using it. Just apply some glue to a flat surface, I use an acrylic block, (again wash quickly after use) and pick up the glue with the stamp just as if you were inking it up. Then stamp and leave to go tacky, apply the gilding flakes and voila!
