ATC365 - #13 NIGHTFALL

Hello from a very wet West Wales! According to Mr Weatherman it would seem there is going to be a lot of rain about over the next dew days. Best settle down in the craft cave and simply craft it out!

Today, day 13, presented me with the word NIGHTFALL. Any excuse for me to put a moon on my project! This ATC has a background I made for a Visible Image piece which used their fantastic script from the Revolution set, you know, the one that features the lovely splashing horses. They were released way back in the summer last year! I know because I was in the process of moving and didn't get much playtime with them.

The background was coloured with Brusho paints and the Revolution script was stamped with a grey dye ink. I used a circle stencil and some bleach to create the moon and then added the seed pods using black embossing powder and white Posca Pen. Simple but striking don't you think?

The seed heads are a Lavinia stamp, much used, but I like it as I can hi-light it to the max!

Will I see you tomorrow for the next ATC? I hope so.

Happy days! Kim

Lavinia Challenge - Anything Goes!

Made this challenge by the skin of my teeth. Haven't really had much time to craft these past few weeks. Anybody else have the same problem?

During a lull in festive activities I went to check on the challenges I usually take part in and noticed that I hadn't done my usual Lavinia entry. As I didn't have a lot of time I decided to do something simple. Just some basic colouring in for my entry this time but I did jazz it up a bit with a brayered moon background.

I worked on Centura Pearl card with cherry red and teal Stazon ink. It seems to 'pop' on the Centura pearl card, it becomes more luminescent.

I then simply stamped the trees directly onto the background and the houses onto a separate piece of Centura with black Stazon and coloured everything in with ProMarker pens. A bit of decoupage and 3D gel and it was done.

To all my followers and visitors from LAVINIA land I thank you for dropping by. Hope to see you all again next year. Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody.

LAVINIA CHALLENGE - #9 - BRIGHT HOT COLOURS

Ok, just scraping in by the skin of my teeth! What does that mean anyway? I feel the need to do some 'Google-ing' now!!

This month (and for the next few days only!) on the Lavinia Challenge blog the theme is Bright Hot Colours. Bit of luck really as I have a fan-tab-u-lous new set of paints from LuminArte called SILKS. They have been available in the States for some time now but thanks to me being an Inkoid I was lucky enough to get my inky mits on some purely for research purposes prior to their official launch recently. Hah! Who am I kidding? I played like a child with these paints, they are wonderful!! Sploshing the wonderfully named Spicy Tomato all over the place and getting Ginger Peach under my fingernails!!

I also recently won a Lavinia challenge and the prize for this was a free shopping voucher to spend within the Lavinia Shop. As I didn't own any Faerie stamps I used this opportunity to get some and I felt it appropriate to use one of my new stamps in the challenge for this month.

So here we have it, all bright and hot. Why not pop over to the Challenge blog and check out all the lovely DT examples and the entries?  If you have any Lavinia stamps then have a go yourself.

Need to dash, 'you-know-what' is nearly upon us and I need to make some appropriate cards for the occasion.

Take care! Kim x

Lavinia Challenge - #8 Autumn Colours

Another month has simply flown by! All around me I see the trees turning a lovely golden brown colour and I guess this sign that Autumn is on its' way could not simply be allowed to arrive without being recognised with a Autumn theme challenge. All down our avenue the conkers are growing and school children are carrying out the annual 'How many conkers can I get in my pocket on the way to school' ritual! Nice sunny day today and I have spent a little time in the garden preparing some of my plants for the winter. Pottering in the garden helps me think and I have been busy planning what I should make for the Lavinia Challenge this month.

Sometimes it is simply a case of crafting 'in my head' and then setting about creating this imagined project. Other times I sit and play around with a few products, hoping for that happy accident!

Today was a bit of both! I knew which stamps I wanted to use for the challenge and the basic layout. What I didn't know was how I was going to bring all the bits together.

Anyway, here it is, my homage to Autumn. Some brass coloured gilding wax and some copper embossing powder define the seasonal tone of this card. A lovely laser cut wooden butterfly which I first painted with Spiced Pumpkin H2O before gilding it lightly. (By the way, that H2O Spiced Pumpkin paint is so much like the colour of blood that I was convinced I had cut my finger on my craft knife!!)

Pop over to the Lavinia challenge blog and just be amazed at the lovely samples the DT have created to inspire you and then have a go yourself!

Thanks for dropping in. As always I love getting your comments and if you have any questions about anything craft related I am always happy to help.

Maybe a Little Too Simple?

Fun with ATCs have a new challenge out today with the theme Clean & Simple. Nice theme especially as I am really pushed for time at the moment. Check out the other entries HERE and why not have a go at your own ATC?

This is taking the theme to the limits. It is 'clean' in that the base card is the most dominant feature, and it is 'simple'. I used a lovely stamp from Lavinia Stamps, a touch of ProMarker to give a shadow and Sharpie black for the edges. End of.

Short and sweet! Have a nice evening. Kim xx

PS Your comments are great to read, please let me know that you have visited. x

LAVINIA CHALLENGE #7 - Add a Flower

Just a quick blog tonight. I have been rather busy with other things but I have still found time to do a Lavinia Challenge entry.

It is the 7th challenge at The Lavinia Challenge blog, with the theme 'Add a Flower'. I have created a very rich colour base for this card using my brayer and StazOn ink in purple and black cherry on Centura Pearl card. It has been a while since I used my coloured StazOn inks and combining them with the Centura Pearl card was a complete accident, but a great one! I will certainly use this pairing again.  I love it!

The moon was coloured with Hunter Grey H2O and white water colour pencil. The flowers (Oops! Will this still count as I have added 3 flowers?) are Tim Holtz die cuts.

Hope you like it? Pop over to The Lavinia Challenge blog to see the other entries and the fantastic DT projects. Get inspired and have a go yourself!

And Now For Something A Little Bit Different.

It has been a long time since I did a Lavinia challenge. So as I have a few moments spare today (day off work don't you know) I thought I would check out what the challenge was for this month. Well, well, well, it couldn't have been better. 'Anything Goes' - Challenge #6. Lavinia must have known I needed a simple theme. Thank you very much.

Here is my entry. It uses some of my all time favourite silhouette stamps and a few little Lavinia bugs. I used spray inks for the background and black Versafine ink for the images. A few black gems, a frame, and a stripe and there we are. Done.

The play on words has just struck me, I made a L O N G card because it has been a L O N G time since I did a Lavinia challenge. (Little things and all that.........)

Go check out the other fantastic entries and Design Team examples HERE

Now to enjoy the rest of my day off. Heading to the craft room as soon as I press PUBLISH.
